John Grey 'Roy Smeck' ukulele banjo. This vintage John Grey banjo-uke is a " ROY SMECK " standard model. It needs re-stringing but is in pretty good condition otherwise. It is a British made ukulele-banjo and probably dates from the 1930s. Although John Grey produced banjo-ukes in large numbers, the Roy Smeck-endorsed instruments are fairly rare. Smeck was a popular American Vaudeville artist but not particularly famous in Britain, so perhaps that is why these banjo-ukes did not sell in huge quantities. This 'standard' model is a basic instrument, a great budget-buy, or perhaps ideal for a beginner to learn on. Case included.
