This is a very collectable 1980 ODE Model 6500 Style ‘D’ 5 string banjo, which I’ve owned from new. The banjo has a walnut neck and resonator, gold plated and engraved hardware, Keith gold plated D-tuners on 2nd and 3rd strings, spikes, ebony fingerboard, Style ‘D’ neck and peghead inlays, and original Gretch hard shell case. The banjo is in excellent shape though some of the gold plating has worn off on the armrest over the years. This is a wonderful banjo with a great sound.
The original 2nd and 3rd string gold plated tuners are included (never been used) in case you wish to remove the Keith ones (keith gold plated tuners are £250 retail). There is slight wear on a couple of frets but it is slight - no effect on playing.
Reason for sale: old age catching up - I am increasingly bothered with arthritis in my hands which is a bit of a problem if you want to play bluegrass, so it has to go.
This is for cash on collection only from Wirral area near junction 3 on M53 motorway; I am not willing to post it in case of damage.
The banjo is advertised for sale elsewhere and so maybe withdrawn.
