'May Bell' ukulele-banjo A May Bell ukulele-banjo, made by Slingerland; this is the smaller variety with a 7-inch hoop. A note came in the case saying it was bought in 1929. It has 16 tension hooks and is all original apart from the vellum, bridge and strings. The pegs are the original non-slip ivoroid ones. In excellent condition and fully set up for Formby-style playing. No wear on the fingerboard, but the rods, brackets and tension hooks have lost their very bright plating. Loud, with a full tone. Comes with an old but serviceable John Grey case. |
