"Ludwig" copy banjo-uke (1999). In his time Gordon Markendale made some fine copies of 'Abbott' and 'Gibson' banjo ukes. They were all excellent, but many people believe that his 'Ludwig' copy was the finest and they have become extremely desireable. This one is in excellent original condition with a great playing action and a terrific sound. No damage, no fret wear or fingerboard wear. It shows some slight varnish crazing around the marquetry inlay on the resonator. It is a great copy of the 1927/28 nickel plated version of the superb 'Ludwig' banjo uke and comes in a plush lined quality hard case with the original Certificate of Authenticity matching the serial number. This is believed to have
been the last 'Ludwig' copy that Gordon Markendale
ever made. A great looking and wonderful sounding
instrument. |
