| Ludwig 'Wendell Hall' ukulele-banjo SOLD | ||||||
| This
instrument was bought from an American Banjolier by the
previous owner. Under their instruction it was renovated by Phil Cartwirght, which included re-lacquering and repair to resonator damage (see photo). The latter has been expertly executed, only being visible on close inspection. Thankfully the original transfer has been retained on the head, however the transfer around the pot has been replaced by a tasteful marquetry inlay. Since acquiring this uke I have fitted planet-geared tuners, as well as setting up the action to suit the Formby style. The action on many of Ludwigs instruments is quite high, but this one is as low as you can get without fret buzz. It does, of course, have the crisp tone and volume that would be expected of a Wendell Hall. Included are a hard-case (Phil Cartwright type), and the original arm-rest and tensioning key. |
