Kumalae soprano ukulele A delightful, sweet-sounding and mellow toned uke made by Kumalae of Hawaii. Vintage: 1920s-30s. The condition is excellent - although the fingerboard looks well used in the photos, it is actually just the varnish that is worn. The wood itself is hardly marked. The only defects I can find are that a tiny piece of the inlay is damaged at the bottom and there is a small crack (about 2" long) just to the left of the bridge - just visible in the photo. These are very minor things and do not detract from the overall charm, or the sound, of this very desirable instrument. Playability is excellent, very light, comfortable to hold, with an easy action. All parts are original (apart from the strings, naturally). A very nice brown, velvet-lined case is included, possibly original, certainly of the period. |
