| A very nice
original Gibson 1920s UB4 model ukulele-banjo. I want to be as honest as possible about
its condition, which is good but not perfect for three
reasons. Unfortunately, in the photos, the lack of plating on the tension hooks (which though not major is in my opinion the worst aspect of its condition) is barely visible, while the dings to the woodwork (which really are minor) are coming out as though its got measles! This is also the case with the plating on the bezel which is actually in pretty good shape but looks more mottled in the pic than it does in real life. I guess I'm trying to say that it's best for a potential buyer to see it rather than go by the photos which don't give a very accurate representation of its pretty good condition. Although I live in Spain, where I work as a pro entertainer, the instrument is with my parents in Liverpool, so if you're interested in viewing it, please call them on 0151 284 2046 (international code: 0044). Any other questions should be e-mailed to me. The case is the Gibson original and is in fine shape other than the middle lock being stuck. I expect this can be fixed though I never bothered because my ukes are very rarely kept in the cases. In pointing out these imperfections I'm really just being over-cautious for the sake of the buyer. I have been a GFS member for 20 years, and when I took this instrument to a meeting it attracted very favourable attention - in fact John Croft said it was one of the best sounding UB4s he had played.
